Named after a nearby beach, Kinnegar Brewing co-owned by Libby Carton and Rick Le Vert started brewing at commercial scale in July 2013 following a 2-year pilot period. After a couple of expansions at the original premises surrounded by farmland and sheep, the brewery moved to its current site, a state-of-the art facility in Letterkenny in Spring 2017.
The farmhouse ethos of the brewery remains central to their business, with a focus on natural ingredients. Kinnegar do not filter or pasteurise their brews and prefer instead to have natural carbonation come from the yeast that they use resulting in full-flavoured beers.
Since increasing production capacity, Kinnegar have begun export development, with the addition of a canning line introduced in May 2018. They currently employ 10 full-time and 5 part-time staff.
