We are excited to announce that the Distiller’s Quarter is returning to this year’s Alltech Brews! Back due to popular demand, our area of premium spirits is ready to welcome attendees for another great year.We have a wonderful range of Irish craft drinks brands joining us, along with some premium international brands too! From new and flavoured gins, to whiskeys, honey mead and China’s national drink there is something for all tastes!
London Essence has been announced as the official premium tonic partner for the event and will have a feature stand in the Distillers Quarter, alongside Niche Vines which will offer red wine, white wine and prosecco.
Without further ado, let’s meet our line-up at the Distiller’s Quarter:
Favouring the original Old Tom style of gin, Gaslamp Distillery is a new micro-brewery based in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin. Founded by brothers Eanna and Cian Burke, the pair who have backgrounds in Engineering decided to turn a passion for homebrewing into a professional operation. The brothers built their distillery themselves and all aspects of operations from mashing to fermentation take place on-site.
Their core product, the Old Tom Gin is made from a malted barley base spirit with 11 fresh and dried botanicals resulting in a slightly sweet, malty taste. The spirit is then rested in oak before being hand bottled. Attendees can also try their new Seville orange ‘Marmalade’ gin with ginger and
Elite Spirits brings Moutai Ireland to discerning attendees of this year’s fair! Named after it’s area of origin, Kweichow Moutai is known as the ‘national liquor’ of China and has received critical acclaim throughout its long history. The spirit is only produced along the Chishui River in the Guizhou Province in China. Undoubtedly one of the most valuable global spirit brands, the beverage has consistently won awards worldwide since 1915. Made from a base of distilled fermented sorghum, traditional methods are still used to produce this much celebrated liquor, which has been traced back to the Qing dynasty.
Pearse Lyons Distillery
The Pearse Lyons Distillery is set in the restored St. James’ church and graveyard in The Liberties area of Dublin. Founder, Pearse Lyons has a strong family heritage connection to the site, as great uncles of Lyons were coopers in the area many years ago. Pearse Irish Whiskeys are double-distilled to capture the full character of the spirit using small-batch copper pot stills that have travelled all the way from Kentucky, USA.
The Pearse Lyons Distillery will also host a series of whiskey masterclasses at the fair, where attendees can sample an Irish whiskey, a Bourbon, a Rye and a Scotch in an intimate appreciation class. This ticketed event will cost €10 per person which also includes some light nibbles.
Ha’penny Spirits, inspired by the iconic Ha’penny Bridge includes a Ha’penny Dublin Dry Gin, Ha’penny Rhubarb Gin and Ha’penny Whiskey.
The iconic bridge which was constructed in 1816 served as the first pedestrian link to the north and south of Dublin’s fair city – and as such the brand focus is on bringing people together. The botanicals chosen for the gins which include Geranium, Dandelion, Lavender and Blackberry, are botanicals which would have been growing in the nearby Phoenix Park in Victorian times when the bridge was built.
The Ha’penny range of handcrafted, small batch distilled spirits is original, distinctive and full of personality, just like the city that inspired it. The gins were recently awarded at the World Gin Awards, with Ha’penny Dublin Dry awarded silver in the Best Contemporary Gin category, and Ha’penny Rhubarb awarded gold for Best Flavoured Gin category respectively.
West Cork Distillers
Inspired by the rich heritage of their surroundings for artisanal craft and produce, West Cork Distillers was born. Founded in 2003 by childhood friends Denis McCarthy, Ger McCarthy & John O’Connell the distillery is the most southerly-located in Ireland. The majority of the equipment used for mashing, fermentation and distilling was made by hand on-site by the team ensuring premium-quality beverages.
Attendees at this year’s fair will be able to enjoy their West Cork Irish Whiskey range, Garnish Island Gin, with Irish, rose, hibiscus, rosemary and thyme; and their Two Trees range of vodka, gin and potín.
Kinsale Mead Company
Founded in 2016, Kinsale Meadery is the only contemporary meadery in Ireland. Producing the world’s oldest alcoholic drink, which is fermented with honey; arose after a trip to the Hill of Tara, where the footprint of the Great Mead Hall stood. After extensive researching and planning, their first batch of was bottled in August 2017.
Ran by husband and wife Denis and Kate Dempsey, Kinsale Mead is a light and refreshing drink, handcrafted in small batches using natural ingredients, old recipes and modern techniques. The two products currently available are Atlantic Dry Mead and Wild Red Mead, and a range of premium cocktails designed by mixologists will be on offer at the fair including The Bees Knees, made with Atlantic Dry Mead, Gin, Honey syrup and lemon juice; and a Celtic Mead Sangria, made with Wild Red Mead, Cointreau, cranberry juice and lime.
Míl is an award-winning Irish Pot Stilled Gin featuring Mediterranean botanicals from the Pearse Lyons Distillery. Having recently been awarded Gold in the Best Contemporary gin category at the World Gin Awards, the inspiration for the product comes from the links between the Church of St. James, site of the Pearse Lyons Distillery, and the Camino de Santiago. Featuring a range of Mediterranean botanicals such as Juniper, Bergamot Orange, Almond, Olive, Basil, Thyme, Rosemary and Orris & Gooseberry, Míl is a pure spirit infused with zesty, fragrant southern sunshine. The lounge will feature deck chairs and refreshing cocktails served by Míl himself & they will also be launching a brand new product over the weekend so keep your eyes peeled!
